“Christ Alone” is a summary of some of the core principles of the Christian faith. The concept of grace alone is that we are saved, not because of the good things we do, but simply because God loves us. The concept of scripture alone is that only the Bible can tell us who the true God is and what he has done for us. The concept of faith alone is that God's grace is ours through trusting in Jesus as our Savior. Therefore, at Christ Alone, we believe and teach that what we really need for a restored relationship with God and with each other is just Jesus. Only Jesus. A lot of Jesus.
- There is one God. He has revealed himself to be three-in-one; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19).
- God inspired the prophets and apostles to record his Word. Therefore the Bible is without error and infallible (2 Peter 1:20-21).
- God created all that exists with his almighty power. The crown of his creation is mankind, whom he made in his image (Genesis 1:1-31, Genesis 2:1-25).
- The perfect relationship that existed between God and mankind was broken when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Ever since then, all people have fallen short of the perfection God expects. Each of us is sinful by nature, and have sinned against God in our thoughts, words, and actions (Psalm 51:5,Genesis 8:21,Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).
- Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world to restore our broken relationship with him (John 3:16). The Father placed on Jesus all the guilt of everyone who has ever lived (Isaiah 53:6). Because Jesus died as our substitute, God will no longer count our sins against us (2 Corinthians 5:19).
- God raised Jesus from the dead, giving us the certainty of salvation (John 14:19).
- By faith in Jesus as our Savior we have the forgiveness of all our sins and the sure hope of eternal life (Acts 16:31).
- Baptism is a sacred act of God by which he washes away our sin (Acts 22:16) and grants us his gift of salvation (Titus 3:5). This promise is for people of all ages, even children (Acts 2:38-39).
- Holy Communion is a sacred act of God by which he strengthens our relationship with him and with each other by giving us the body and blood of Jesus, which are present in a special way with the bread and wine (Matthew 26:26-28). In keeping with biblical principles, we practice close communion (1 Corinthians 11:27-32) (1 Corinthians 1:10).
- At the end of the world, Jesus will come back to judge the living and the dead. He will raise up all the dead, and give eternal life to all who believe in him (John 5:28-29; John 6:40).
